Job Title: School Nurse

Job Summary:

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a skilled School Nurse to provide healthcare services to students enrolled in our Special Education Center Schools. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, documenting, and managing the health care needs of all students, promoting wellness, and preventing disease for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform required health care services, including care for injuries, acute illnesses, medical procedures, and medication administration.
  • Provide screening and referral for health conditions, specialized first aid, and emergency care when necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive health records for all students and complete state-mandated screenings.
  • Plan and deliver a wellness program for students, provide health information and resources for staff, and manage applications for Free and Reduced Lunch.
  • Communicate medical information with parents/guardians, follow administrative policies, and work collaboratively with co-workers.
  • Utilize email, Microsoft Office programs, and student informational systems to manage communication, information, and records.

Requirements:

  • PDE School Nurse Certificate preferred.
  • RN required (Enrollment in a CSN program after hire required).
  • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
  • Ability to manage medical emergencies, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and be a self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible individual.
  • Ability and experience working as a member of a team, skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to experiment with new technologies.

Working Conditions:

The physical demands of this position require standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, stooping, and bending. The teacher must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. The teacher must see and hear on a continuous basis, speak frequently, and have manual dexterity to use office equipment and assist students.

Additional Requirements:

  • Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR clearances required prior to an offer.
  • School Personnel Health Record and TB Test (Form H) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.

Salary: Per the AIUEA Bargaining Unit Agreement
