Project Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to lead site development projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in grading and drainage designs, stormwater management, and utility systems. As a key member of our Civil/Site team, you will work closely with staff engineers to deliver projects within established budgets, deadlines, and agency regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret municipal zoning and land development ordinances, as well as applicable agency regulations, to determine land development limitations for properties.
  • Conduct site investigations and due diligence, including reviewing ordinances, utility service research, and site visits, to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
  • Prepare concept drawings based on client development objectives and due diligence conclusions, involving coordination with AutoCAD draftsmen.
  • Lead the review and design of stormwater management and stormwater conveyance systems, utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design software.
  • Develop pipe sizing calculations for stormwater conveyance systems, including drainage area maps.
  • Evaluate surface runoff coefficients, invert, slope, velocity, and hydraulic grade line using the Rational Method and Manning's Equation.
  • Stay up-to-date with stormwater management design regulations, including County, SCD, and governing municipality requirements in GA.
  • Design grading to ensure value engineering through earthwork analysis and site safety through appropriate design slopes.
  • Develop subdivision and site plan designs and layouts.
  • Design utility systems, including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, pump station design, water, gas, telephone service, and resolving vertical and horizontal utility conflicts.
  • Design soil erosion and sediment control measures, including stability calculations, Best Management Practices, swale design, spillway design, and construction sequence determination.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates based on site plan drawings for bonding and client purposes.
  • Work independently and lead other engineers in a team environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 4-8 years of residential and/or commercial civil land development work experience.
  • PE preferred.
  • Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land use, planning, and zoning processes and regulations (NC).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other site development-related designs.
  • Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts from concept to completion.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with team members.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and verbal instructions.
