Cardiac Sonographer

The Cardiac Sonographer 2 performs advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients, utilizing a variety of equipment and techniques to obtain accurate, high-quality results. This role requires strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, as well as the ability to explain complex sonographic principles and instrumentation to patients and healthcare providers.

• Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history to adapt imaging techniques for comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
• Perform basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures, making necessary measurements and correlating invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic test results with cardiac anatomy and function.
• Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as necessary, and assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
• Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting malfunctions as appropriate.
• Act as a resource to other staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.

• Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS), or Registered Vascular Tech (RVT) certification.
