The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive dental hygiene services to patients while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and quality.
Responsibilities:- Perform thorough oral cleanings on patients, meticulously removing calculus, deposits, accretions, and stains using both hand instruments and mechanized tools.
- Conduct comprehensive instrumental examinations and document the condition of teeth and surrounding tissues, identifying any carious lesions, periodontal pockets, or other abnormalities.
- Utilize X-ray technology to screen patients for dental issues.
- Administer prescribed medicaments to the gingival area and apply desensitizing agents as directed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including toothbrush techniques and oral physical therapy.
- Maintain accurate patient records in a computer database by inputting essential dental history, information, and details of services rendered.
- Ensure the cleanliness, sharpness, and sterilization of all dental instruments.
- Perform daily maintenance tasks on handpieces and other dental equipment.
- Assist patients with seating and preparation for dental procedures.
- Adhere to strict tool control protocols for instruments and needles.
- Demonstrate a commitment to best practices in providing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervising dentist or healthcare team.
- Active certification to practice dental hygiene by the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners.
- Minimum of three years of experience providing dental hygiene services to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Current residency within the state of Arkansas.
