Job Title: Operations Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time Operations Specialist in Lakota, ND, to join our team at CHS Devils Lake. As an Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our facilities, handling commodities, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of commodities handled at the location and comply with company policies and government regulations.
  • Work with customers in a courteous and professional manner, providing exceptional service and support.
  • Prepare trucks and railcars for loading/unloading, which may require sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches, and attaching/detaching flexible hoses.
  • Load and unload agricultural inputs from railcars and/or trucks using heavy or light-duty machinery/equipment, including bulk and packaged materials.
  • Control and monitor all load-out functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Understand and operate automated scale/dump systems, maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct and record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, including lubrication of pumps, valves, and loading arms, and inspecting in-use equipment for leaks and seeps.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of inventory, including blended, bulk, or packaged products.
  • Deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, feed, and others to customer sites, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Keep all work areas clean, orderly, and safe, conducting regular housekeeping duties, such as sweeping, shoveling, power washing, scraping, and cleaning up spills.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal, and warehouse work, including driving a loader, loading/unloading inventory, forklift operation, and general maintenance.
  • Promptly report any customer complaints, repair or maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture, following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, and identifying and communicating workplace hazards.
Requirements
  • Must meet minimum age requirement.
  • 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Business Operations.
  • Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile.
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet business demands.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Agriculture experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins.
  • Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures.
