Job Title: Architect - A/B/C (In-House Design Studio)

The New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) is seeking a highly skilled Architect to join our In-House Design Studio. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing scope, design, and construction documents for new school buildings, additions, lease conversions, and renovation work of existing schools.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall architectural coordination for projects, including preparation of scope, pre-schematic, schematic, preliminary, and construction documents.
  • Work with a wide range of technical, professional, managerial, and support personnel, as well as outside consultants, contractors, vendors, and government agencies.
  • May function as project or team leader, reporting to an A&E Director, Managing Architect, or Engineer, to plan and coordinate work with other Architects and Engineers.
  • May direct lower-level Architects or Engineers, Quality Assurance Specialists, Technical Inspectors, Associate Architects/Engineers, and Architectural/Engineering Technicians.
  • Conduct site observations, prepare field reports, and assist in the preparation of punch lists.
Requirements:
  • Valid New York State registration as an Architect.
  • Current NYS registration must be maintained for the duration of employment.
  • Level A requires three years of full-time paid experience as a Registered Architect, two years of which must be as a project architect, project, team, or squad leader, or comparable level of responsibility.
  • Level B requires six years of full-time paid experience as a Registered Architect, three years of which must be as a project architect, project, team, or squad leader, or comparable level of responsibility.
