Job Summary

The US Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly skilled Nurse (Outpatient) to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the Great Plains Area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct professional nursing care to patients, reviewing history of medical care, assessing current health conditions, and evaluating ability of patient to self-care.
  • Administer medication in accordance with the plan of care and assist providers with procedures.
  • Participate in patient-centered medical home by providing care coordination based on patient needs, assisting patient in establishing goals, and providing education to patient and families to improve their health outcomes.
  • Identify individual patient problems and develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Maintain certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks.
  • Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service healthcare facilities.
Working Conditions

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.
