As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of production employees to maximize productivity and efficiency on assigned shifts and areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise production employees to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Plan, assign, and direct work to meet production schedules and goals.
- Address product and employee complaints, and resolve problems in a timely and effective manner.
- Foster a productivity mindset by utilizing basic Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Maintain accurate training records and provide growth opportunities for staff through cross-training and refresher training.
- Drive accountability for production KPIs by coaching and engaging employees in process improvement initiatives.
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct setup and adjustments to machines.
- Coordinate production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Evaluate needs in production for daily assignment of duties and establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Engage in employee training evaluations to ensure proper training is being provided for each new employee.
- Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Maintain time and production records as required, including payroll time approval and daily production reporting, safety incident reporting, etc.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance and QA to ensure new products and processes meet safety, quality, and production goals.
- Provide supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action, and performance management.
- Engage in semi-annual performance reviews with direct reports and provide actionable feedback.
- Train and instruct employees regarding production and equipment standards and processes.
- Oversee instruction, implementation, and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
- Follow appropriate escalation procedures for production, quality, personnel, and safety issues.
- Lead by example with the CWD "Code of Quality" and take ownership of the shift to support safety, quality, and production goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or HS/GED and minimum of 2 years plant supervisory experience.
- 2 years' experience with food manufacturing, dairy production a plus.
- Experience with SQF or BRC audits preferred.
- Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications.
- Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs, and lead others through change.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
- Ability to select, coach, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills that enable high-level interaction with senior management within the company and across our customer and supply base.
- The candidate must pass a company pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to commencing work.
SQF Requirements:
- Maintain food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
- Required to wear food safety/sanitation clothing.
- This position necessitates conformance to personal hygiene regulations.
- Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Enforce proper GMPs for all employees.
- Ensure all programs are being upheld and documentation is current.
