We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist I to join our team at Quest Diagnostics. As a Histotechnologist I, you will be responsible for preparing slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, ensuring proper accessioning and labeling of tissue samples, and performing various laboratory tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of tissue samples, including documentation and tracking.
  • Perform various laboratory tasks, such as tissue processing, embedding, and sectioning.
  • Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures, including hematoxylin and eosin staining.
  • Perform cover slipping of stained slides, either manually or using automated equipment.
  • Prepare solutions and reagents for immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures, including obtaining and validating control material.
  • Perform IHC testing, following established protocols and procedures.
  • File finished blocks and slides, and perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Document quality control activities and ensure compliance with laboratory's quality control policies.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent training and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Histotechnician.
  • Special requirements: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification.
