Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Airport Rescue Firefighter to join our team at the City of Belen. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for providing fire suppression and emergency medical services in response to emergency calls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate fire apparatus and equipment to combat and extinguish aircraft and other fires.
  • Provide emergency medical services, including patient assessment, treatment, and transportation.
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, responding to emergency situations and making quick decisions to ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders, including police and medical personnel, to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
  • Participate in regular training and drills to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
  • Possess a New Mexico Driver's License (Class E) or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Possess New Mexico Emergency Medical Technician - Basic or higher, or obtain within 24 months of hire.
  • IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter II; preferred or obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • IFSAC or Pro Board Airport/ARFF Firefighter; preferred.
  • Ability to acquire ICS 100, 200, 700, 800.
  • Must pass written and physical agility test.
Working Conditions

As an Airport Rescue Firefighter, you will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, responding to emergency situations and making quick decisions to ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff. You will be required to work in a variety of conditions, including extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and limited visibility.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and dragging heavy equipment and patients.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including hot and cold temperatures, and in areas with limited mobility.
  • Ability to tolerate extreme fluctuations in temperature while operating firefighting or medical duties.
  • Ability to work in areas where the potential for traumatic or thermal injuries are possible.
