This position is responsible for providing reentry services to offenders in accordance with the requirements of the contract and the principles of the GEOs Continuum of Care.
Key Responsibilities- Performs account reconciliations as directed by management: general ledger, preparation of accounting statements and financial reports related to Reentry.
- Operates adding machine, calculator, copy machine and other office machines.
- Operates a computer system with printer.
- Performs simple and routine accounting and bookkeeping clerical functions.
- Recognizes and compares numbers and codes on accounting documents.
- Verifies mathematical accuracy.
- Identifies discrepancies and brings them to management's attention.
- Gains an understanding of public domain services such as National Institute of Corrections, National Re-Entry Resource Center, and FDIC Money Smart program.
- Utilizes GEO's proprietary electronic case management system GEOtrack to record case notes, track offender progress transition services and final discharge planning with Continuum of Care team.
- Actively engages community resources to work with released offenders emphasizing the critical first months of release.
- Works to connect community resources and prosocial people with offenders prior to release via telephone or through visits at facility.
- Works to ensure offenders obtain eligible benefits and proper identification prior to release.
- Assures timely communication and follow up with State personnel in the best interest of the offenders and successful reintegration.
- Participates in appropriate training for designated responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
- Two (2) years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of clerical/secretarial, fiscal and accounting experience required.
- Ability to prepare written reports; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to learn rules, regulations, and security procedures required by the facility.
- Must be flexible, cooperative and empathetic to needs of staff and offenders.
- Possess or develop a thorough understanding of the Principles of Effective Intervention that empirical evidence demonstrates reduces recidivism.
- Must possess the ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
- Working knowledge of office and accounting practices and procedures required.
- Working knowledge of business English, good grammar and spelling skills, and ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives required.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
