Responsibilities

The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant is tasked with executing treatment interventions and strategies as outlined in the initial care plan, under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

  • Assists the Licensed Physical Therapist in patient treatments through the application of modalities, exercises, ambulation, patient and family education, balance techniques, and daily living activities.
  • Implements the treatment plan while coordinating with the patient, family, significant others, and the care team.
  • Monitors the patient's progress and adjusts treatment as necessary to meet established goals.
  • Records the outcomes of patient assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and service terminations.
  • Evaluates and analyzes the quality and appropriateness of the physical therapy services provided, reporting any issues to the supervisor as needed.
  • Understands and adheres to billing and reimbursement protocols in accordance with governmental and third-party regulations, ensuring accurate and ethical billing practices.
  • Takes responsibility for maintaining and enhancing personal and professional skills and knowledge relevant to the assigned work area.
  • Shares new insights with colleagues to support the clinical skill development and program enhancement of peers.
  • Assists the Licensed Physical Therapist in supervising Physical Therapist Assistant students or interns as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
  • Preferred: One year of experience.
  • Preferred: Clinical Internship.
  • Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Iowa.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and oral) with individuals from diverse professional, educational, and lifestyle backgrounds are essential.
