Job Title: Donations Attendant

Opportunity Village is seeking a Donations Attendant to join our team. As a Donations Attendant, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to donors, ensuring a pleasant donation experience, and maximizing the value of donated goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer tax receipts to donors and provide assistance in unloading donations.
  • Handle goods and equipment properly to avoid damage or breakage.
  • Assist drivers in loading/unloading of goods or equipment.
  • Communicate needed reports and information in a timely manner.
  • Sort and label goods by category and place in proper containers or equipment.
  • Fill out needed production and inventory reports.
  • Stack donated goods neatly and safely.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Hand out marketing materials to donors.
  • Greet donors and provide information about Opportunity Village and its donation policy, mission, and programs.
  • Maintain clean housekeeping around donation area (about 50 ft. radius).
  • Perform processing of donations when needed.
Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers, supervisors, donors, and the public (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other's reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must be able to recognize items which are not sellable due to damage or not acceptable due to guidelines.
  • Must be able to perform with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year in customer service, communication, and dealing with a diverse public.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb in and out of a truck majority of the work day.
  • Frequent bending, standing, lifting.
  • Ability to endure all outside weather conditions and high noise levels.
  • Ability to tolerate stress.
