Highly Skilled Assembler for Mechanical Components

Join Powell Industries, a leading manufacturer of electrical distribution equipment, as a highly skilled Assembler responsible for assembling mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units.
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced individual with 2-4 years of manufacturing experience to join our team. The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent, basic knowledge of English, both written and verbal, and the ability to read a tape measure, safely use hand/power tools, and lift up to 50lbs.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble mechanical components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Perform maintenance and proper use of tools.
- Perform in-process inspections, ensuring quality by following standard work instructions and identifying potential risks.
- Perform ship prep functions, including splitting gear.
- Assist in Root Cause Analysis on engineering changes and correct discrepancies.
- Work with a team to complete assigned tasks.
- Perform mechanical adjustments for switchgear.
- Promote a safety culture and attend safety meetings.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
The ideal candidate should have basic knowledge of MES systems, Oracle, and experience in building or repairing mechanical components. Key skills and abilities include:
- Reading and understanding spec sheets and following proper use of hardware.
- Reading and understanding single and three-line drawings, including symbols.
- Reading and understanding Engineering Change Orders.
- Identifying part discrepancies and writing HFDs for corrections.
- Knowledge of mechanical drawings and designs.
- Following direction from Senior Assemblers and Lead Assemblers.
- Demonstrating on-time delivery and staying focused on goals and responsibilities.
- Being a self-starter and taking on multiple tasks.
- Challenging the status quo and finding better ways to achieve results.
- Adapting to new ideas, technology, and processes.
- Demonstrating integrity and ethical decision-making.
This role requires working in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment with occasional outside activities. The ideal candidate must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work from various types of ladders. They should be able to work at heights up to 20 feet and maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling.
Physical RequirementsThe physical demands of this role include continuous standing and walking, frequent use of hand tools and power tools, and meeting physical lifting demands up to 50lbs.
