Accounting and Financial Expertise

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team at MERCHANT INDUSTRY LLC. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for maintaining, preparing, and reconciling accounts and other financial documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Invoice and Payment Processing: Process invoices, payments, and expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Resolve accounts payable/receivable issues or queries.
  • Cash Reconciliation: Perform daily reconciliations of cash, check, and credit card transactions.
  • Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • General Ledger Entries: Handle general ledger entries and journal entries.
  • Audits and Compliance: Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Tax Preparation: Prepare and file tax returns (income tax, sales tax, etc.).
  • Financial Analysis: Assist in analyzing financial data and providing insights to management.
  • Expense Management: Manage expense management process, support payroll.
  • Financial Transactions: Enter and maintain financial transactions in QuickBooks, including invoices, payments, and expenses.
  • Financial Coordination: Coordinate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
  • Accounting Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and best practices.
  • Support to Senior Leadership: Support CFO and senior leadership team as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years' experience in a similar Accounting role.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Integrity: Integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Benefits:
  • Salary: Salary within the range of USD $60,000-70,000 annually.
  • Benefits Package: Comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental with choice between plans, flexible PTO, and retirement benefits with up to 4% employer match.

This position is based at our office at 2 Jericho Plaza, Jericho, NY. There will be two weeks of initial training, followed by one day per month of work at our Long Island City office. For the right candidate, there is also an option to work permanently out of our Long Island City office if it is more convenient.
