Job Summary

The Department of Anthropology at Santa Clara University seeks a qualified adjunct lecturer to teach Introduction to Archaeology with Lab in the Spring Quarter. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a course load of no more than 2 courses per quarter, and will be expected to conduct and appear at all assigned class meetings in a timely and prepared manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a course load of no more than 2 courses per quarter
  • Conduct and appear at all assigned class meetings in a timely and prepared manner
  • Assign and evaluate assignments that align with the course description and course learning outcomes
  • Hold regular weekly office hours on campus
  • Submit student grades that are appropriate, accurate and fair measures of student performance
  • Administer numerical and narrative evaluations for all courses
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Anthropology by the time of appointment is preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching anthropological archaeology at the college level
  • Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstration of inclusive pedagogical practices that advance SCU goals of diversity and equity
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and mentoring a diverse population of undergraduate students
Working Conditions

This position is 100% teaching. The class will be in-person, but the successful candidate may be required to teach some parts of the course online if county health and university health conditions deteriorate.
