Position Overview: The Heavy Equipment Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the movement of all vessels within the facility, ensuring they are properly handled for various operations such as launching, designated tasks, storage, or sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy machinery, including but not limited to marine forklifts, travelifts, and hydraulic trailers.
  • Utilize equipment to efficiently move vessels in and out of the water, directing them to designated workspaces, storage, or sales areas.
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on all assigned equipment to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Perform yard maintenance tasks, including pressure washing, bottom painting, blocking and standing vessels, and general upkeep as necessary.
  • Be available for overtime work as required.
  • Adhere to SHM Safety and Environmental regulations and complete all necessary training.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets, and hard hats, as required for specific tasks or work areas.
  • Report all incidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately.
  • Possess heavy forklift experience and certification.
  • Basic boat handling skills are preferred.
  • Consistently follow company policies and procedures while actively seeking innovative methods to enhance job performance.
