Lead Roofer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Roofer to join our team at the Anchorage School District. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing roofing projects, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and providing leadership and supervision to crew members.

• Troubleshoot and repair major roofing systems, including asphalt and wood shingles.
• Perform carpentry and maintenance tasks, including door and hardware maintenance.
• Follow safety procedures and standard practices of the roofing and building craft trades.
• Provide leadership and supervision to crew members, including scheduling and designating work assignments.
• Coordinate multi-craft work within the Maintenance Department and establish plans and procedures with supervisors.
• Estimate materials and labor requirements, interpret plans and specifications, and write reports and orders materials as needed.

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of two years of experience within the past four years as a roofer.
• Ability to work at heights over 20 feet and use hand and mechanical roofing tools.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• A minimum of five years of experience within the past seven years as a roofer.
• Experience in planning and assigning work performed by skilled roofers.

This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. The employee must be able to reach with their hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. The employee must also be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
