Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering routine care to sub-acute, chronic, and convalescent adult and geriatric residents under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is essential in maintaining the health and well-being of our residents in alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Goals of Catholic Health Services of Long Island.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members.
- Practice within the established LPN scope of practice.
- Identify and promptly report changes in resident health status to the supervising RN.
- Perform and demonstrate proficiency in vital signs, medication administration, and monitoring of lab values.
- Provide care for residents pre/post-procedure, ensuring geriatric competency and effective pain management.
- Ensure resident safety through adherence to safety protocols, including the use of restraints and isolation precautions.
- Facilitate resident feeding and oversee dining areas as assigned.
- Document and transcribe physician orders accurately using our electronic order entry system.
- Participate in the development and implementation of resident care plans.
- Educate residents, patients, and families, providing both written and verbal information as per policy.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is set at $39.83. Please note that this figure serves as a good faith estimate and actual compensation may vary based on individual qualifications, skills, and experience.
