Key Responsibilities- Emergency Response: Respond to dispatched alarms without delay, operate apparatus and equipment at incidents within departmental procedures, and perform rescues.
- Fire Safety Inspections: Conduct fire safety inspections to identify potential hazards and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Public Education: Develop and implement public education programs to promote fire safety and prevention.
- Apparatus and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain apparatus and equipment in a state of readiness, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Record Keeping: Accurately complete any necessary records or reports, and participate in evaluations, reviews, and post-incident analyses.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalency is required.
- Certifications: Must be certified as a Missouri Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and hold a Firefighter II certification.
- Skills: Possess strong mechanical comprehension, spatial orientation, and behavioral skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Salary: $49,000 per year, based on a 2,912-hour work schedule.
- Benefits Package: Includes bi-weekly pay periods, 14 holiday hours per month, 191 hours of vacation, 168 hours of sick leave, and a comprehensive benefits package.
The testing process consists of an entry-level written exam, a physical agility test, and an oral interview. Prior to employment, eligible applicants will be subject to a physical examination, drug screen, and thorough background investigations.
