POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to perform blood draws from patients for laboratory analysis. This role is integral to the clinical operations of Vibrant Health KC, a Federally Qualified Health Center committed to high-quality healthcare.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare patients prior to blood collection.
- Clearly explain the blood draw process to patients and address any inquiries.
- Adhere to health and safety standards to ensure a sterile environment.
- Collect necessary medical supplies such as needles, vials, and test tubes.
- Confirm patient details and accurately label blood samples.
- Update patient records in the organization’s database with precision.
- Assist anxious patients in feeling at ease during the procedure.
- Collaborate with supervising healthcare providers and medical assistants, following their guidance.
- Demonstrate proficiency in blood collection with minimal complications.
- Support Vibrant Health's mission to provide equitable and culturally sensitive healthcare to the community.
- Accept supervision and guidance to optimize resources in fulfilling job duties.
- Perform additional tasks as required to enhance departmental efficiency and support the organization's mission.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification in phlebotomy from an accredited institution, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Excellent motor skills and stamina for prolonged standing.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in data entry and computer operations.
- Prior experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude.

- Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Phlebotomy certification and 1-2 years of relevant experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
