Overview:

The Certified Nursing Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering personal medical support and aiding with daily living tasks that enhance the quality of life for our patients. This position ensures that individuals can continue to reside in their homes or facilities while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, assist, assess, and document medical care, including:
    • Basic first aid
    • Monitoring weight and vital signs
    • Catheter and bowel care, including intake and output tracking
    • Facilitating range of motion exercises as directed by therapy professionals
    • Supporting ambulation, transfers, and positioning using appropriate medical equipment
  • Prepare meals tailored to dietary and nutritional requirements.
  • Address patients' unique conditions and needs within the authorized scope of practice.
  • Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene, including:
    • Bathing, grooming, and dressing
    • Oral hygiene and eating assistance
  • Ensure thorough completion and coordination of all necessary documentation, including patient and family records.
  • Observe and report any significant changes in the patient's condition to the supervising nurse.
  • Provide hands-on personal care and assist with simple procedures as part of therapy or nursing services.
  • Deliver services as prescribed by the physician in the care plan, within the aide's legal scope of practice.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current, unrestricted certification or proof of training as mandated by state regulations.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Proficiency in clinical assessments and compliance with care policies.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Ongoing Education:

Each aide is required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of in-service training annually, which may occur while providing patient care.

  • Attention to detail

  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Capability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to sit and climb stairs.
  • Visual and auditory acuity.
  • Strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Ability to reposition patients and move equipment independently.
  • Capacity to respond effectively to emergency situations.

Must be adaptable to various environments, which may include exposure to allergens and other conditions, as well as potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
