Position Overview: Senior Project Manager

As a Senior Project Manager at our electrical contracting firm, you'll serve as the primary representative for the Company on assigned projects, overseeing profit and loss for either a single large project or multiple smaller ones. You'll manage all stages of the project lifecycle, from preconstruction to closeout, while aligning with our company's vision, mission, and values. Reporting to the CEO and Owner, you'll directly supervise Project Managers, Superintendents, and other project team members, ensuring effective coordination with the CEO and other departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of project fees.
  • Implement and enforce project Safety Plans.
  • Assess and plan staffing requirements for both preconstruction and construction phases.
  • Provide recommendations to the Project Executive regarding staffing adjustments, training, and recognition initiatives.
  • Assist the CEO in resource allocation, including materials, equipment, and personnel.
  • Promptly address change requests from Owners and Subcontractors throughout the project duration.
  • Ensure timely and accurate procurement of all necessary items to execute the project plan.
  • Verify the detail and accuracy of Subcontractor and Supplier scopes of work.
  • Facilitate monthly PFR/JCR meetings with the CEO for each assigned project.
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule in collaboration with the Superintendent, tracking milestones and procurement activities.
  • Participate in Owner contract negotiations alongside the CEO and Business Unit Leader.
  • Prepare Guaranteed Maximum Price proposals in conjunction with preconstruction services.
  • Manage the subcontract buyout process, including negotiations with Subcontractors.
  • Ensure all Owner deliverables are met during both preconstruction and construction phases.
  • Lead and uphold the Quality Program on each project.
  • Hold regular meetings with subcontractors and suppliers to address cost and schedule concerns promptly.
  • Prepare and present a comprehensive Owner's Status Report on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct mandatory project planning, monthly progress, and project closeout meetings.
  • Document, train, and support Owner personnel during project turnover and commissioning processes.
  • Develop, train, and mentor Project Managers and Superintendents, fostering a business-oriented mindset in project delivery.
  • Manage year-round performance appraisal processes for direct reports, including development, assessment, compensation, promotions, discipline, and terminations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of technical training and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in commercial construction, design, finance, and management.
  • Experience with large multifamily projects is ideal.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry practices, processes, and standards and their implications for project activities.
  • Proficiency in construction computer software and keyboarding skills.
  • Advanced understanding of safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, and engineering documents.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and influence.
