DeKalb County is seeking a highly skilled Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, organizing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the County's safety and loss prevention policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and conduct employee training programs to prevent, reduce, or eliminate work-related accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct defensive driving classes, train supervisors in accident and injury reporting procedures, and conduct workplace safety workshops for field personnel.
  • Develop and conduct commercial driver's license training programs for division and County employees.
  • Conduct safety inspections on all vehicles and equipment to ensure worksites and facilities comply with County and division policies and procedures.
  • Investigate vehicle and equipment incidents, on-the-job injuries, and other departmental losses, and recommend steps to minimize recurrence.
  • Ensure procedures are followed to capture and maintain safety-related records, reports, and documentation.
  • Process a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, including statistical accident and loss charts, driver evaluations, and equipment utilization reports.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Risk Management or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in occupational safety or a related field.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and CDL Class A or B certification (depending on the position).
