Job Title:
Senior Associate Manufacturing Engineering

Job Summary:

L3Harris is seeking a Senior Associate Manufacturing Engineering professional to join our team in Millersville, MD. As a key member of our Integrated Mission Systems organization, you will be responsible for implementing and optimizing manufacturing processes to increase production efficiency and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solve manufacturing problems with innovative solutions.
  • Own continuous improvement in our processes and documentation on multiple production programs.
  • Support transition from engineering development to manufacturing.
  • Investigate and implement alternate/new manufacturing processes and technologies to help continuously improve our processes.
  • Provide key technical input on all product designs for manufacturing ease and cost considerations.
  • Examine early assembly prototyping/testing to provide feedback in the design process.
  • Create assembly instructions and routings.
  • Review and approve drawings for the Manufacturing Department.
  • Communicate information between the design and manufacturing teams and ensure that design feedback from manufacturing is relayed to engineering.
  • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives in the organization such as 5S, Tool Control, etc.

Requirements:

  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods, specifically in soldering and electronics assembly.
  • Experience with technical writing, specifically work instructions and process documentation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Experience with 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing.
  • Experience with SQL or data analytics.
  • Experience/certification in lean practices; 5S, six sigma, etc.
  • Experience with soldering, fiber optics, and IPC/MIL standards.
  • Experience with MRP systems such as Costpoint/SAP/Oracle.
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing.
