Job Description:
The Cybersecurity Analyst II - Vulnerability Assessment Analyst will be responsible for conducting in-depth vulnerability assessments and security audits to identify potential risks and threats to the organization's IT infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance security measures, implement remediation strategies, and ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards, particularly under DCWF 541.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments on network systems, applications, and databases to identify potential security weaknesses.
- Analyze and interpret vulnerability scan results, providing detailed reports and recommending remediation actions to mitigate risks.
- Work closely with IT and development teams to prioritize and address identified vulnerabilities, ensuring timely resolution.
- Perform continuous monitoring of IT systems to detect, assess, and respond to potential security threats.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and best practices in line with DOD 8140 standards.
- Participate in incident response activities, helping to investigate and remediate security breaches and incidents.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to recommend and implement improvements in security posture.
- Collaborate with other cybersecurity analysts to ensure alignment with organizational goals and federal cybersecurity requirements.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to management on security findings, remediation progress, and overall security posture.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on vulnerability assessments and threat analysis.
- Certifications: Must meet DOD 8140 certification requirements, such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or equivalent.
- Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required. Will process for T5 investigation.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of vulnerability assessment tools and techniques (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS).
- Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing vulnerability scan data and security logs.
- Knowledge of federal cybersecurity regulations and standards, including NIST and DOD guidelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
