Job Specialty: ICU - Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU)
As a critical care nurse in our Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, you will provide intensive care to adult patients with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, epilepsy, and other head traumas. You will manage a 20-bed unit where patients return directly post-op without going to a recovery room. This is a multi-care level unit, and you should be prepared to care for up to five Med Surg patients. You will also work with GRID patients who have EEG leads implanted in the brain to detect seizures and may stay for up to three weeks. You will require experience with drip management across all floors and be prepared to float within the scope to meet facility needs, including potential floating to other campuses. You will attend a mandatory charting class during the orientation week and must adhere to compliance documentation deadlines prior to the start. You will work two weekends in a four-week schedule period (Saturday/Sunday for day shift, Friday/Saturday for night shift).
Responsibilities:
- Provide intensive care to adult patients with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, epilepsy, and other head traumas.
- Manage a 20-bed unit where patients return directly post-op without going to a recovery room.
- Work with GRID patients who have EEG leads implanted in the brain to detect seizures and may stay for up to three weeks.
- Require experience with drip management across all floors.
- Be prepared to float within the scope to meet facility needs, including potential floating to other campuses.
Requirements:
- Minimum two years of prior Telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital.
- Nebraska RN License (pending accepted).
- BLS required, EPIC charting experience required.
- Must-Have: Experience in EVDs and joint commission stroke certified facility required, 100% nicotine-free facility compliance, Scrubs requirement (Steele gray with branded logo).
