Position Overview

The City of Bellingham is seeking a dedicated Residential Rental Inspector to enhance the safety and quality of housing for all residents. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with local regulations and improving the living conditions within our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of both market-rate and subsidized residential rental units in line with the Rental Registration and Safety Inspection Program (RR&SIP).
  • Evaluate various building systems, including structural, plumbing, and mechanical, to ensure adherence to applicable codes and regulations.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as documenting inspection results and collaborating with City Building Inspectors and contractors.
  • Monitor compliance with rental regulations and property codes for City-funded housing projects throughout the construction process.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a starting salary of $32.91 per hour, with annual step increases based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The full salary range for this role is up to $40.42 per hour.
