Job Summary:Under the supervision of the director, this position encompasses professional, clinical, and supervisory work of varying degrees with latitude for independent initiative and judgment.
Key Responsibilities:- Knowledgeable of Federal, State, and local laws concerning the filling and dispensing of medications.
- Interpret, fill, and dispense prescriptions and prescriber orders.
- Provide patient counseling and education to outpatient and discharged patients.
- Compound and reconstitute medications in line with prescriptions and orders.
- Review drug-drug, drug-food, and drug-lab interactions.
- Review and profile drug orders.
- Communicate well with other health professionals.
- Suggest and intervene on problematic drug orders.
- Provide up-to-date drug information and billing information.
- Order all pharmacy-related items using different ordering platforms.
- Coordinate drug borrowing and loaning process.
- Oversee daily and monthly narcotic inventory counts.
- Coordinate drug returns to reverse distributor.
- Perform and coordinate all functions related to the Outpatient Robot (Parata).
- Assist in maintaining accurate and complete records of departmental activities.
- Assist in special projects and performance improvement initiatives.
- Supervise stockroom personnel.
- Perform all pharmacy-related functions.
- Possession of a valid NY State license to practice pharmacy.
