Job Responsibilities:
- Shift/Schedule: Full-time Days, 3 shifts of 12 hours with an average of 1 weekend shift per pay period. No on-call duties.
- Department: This role is within the Emergency Department as a holdover nurse.
- In-depth orientation process with patient ratios based on care level.
- Preferred Qualifications: Board certification, experience in the Emergency Department, telemetry competency, BLS, and ACLS certifications. This position will transition the express admit department from admission nurses to holdover nurses, anticipating ongoing needs until hospital expansion.
- The nurse will manage patients awaiting bed availability and may float to inpatient units when not holding in the ED.
Essential Qualifications:
- A valid and current nursing license.
- BLS certification required within 30 days of starting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, identify health concerns, develop care plans, and evaluate patient responses.
- Perform detailed clinical evaluations, prioritize needs of patients and families, and create, implement, and assess care plans.
- Modify plans to achieve desired health outcomes. Building rapport, managing discomfort, and maintaining professionalism are crucial for effective therapeutic relationships.
- Develop care plans that reflect patient values to address health issues. Educate patients, families, and community members to empower informed healthcare decisions.
- Regularly assess and document learning needs. Collaborate with colleagues and the community to formulate care plans.
- Delegate tasks judiciously and ensure prompt follow-up. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Foster teamwork and acknowledge contributions while committing to professional growth.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
