About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapist to join our team at Pennsylvania Cancer Specialists and Research Institute. As a Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and expert care to our patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and interpret patient evaluations and test results to determine physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Administer manual exercises, instruct, encourage, and assist patients in performing physical activities, such as nonmanual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities, and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Administer physical therapy treatments by giving massages, initiating traction, applying physical agents, utilizing hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines, and directing treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
  • Evaluate the effects of physical therapy treatments and the fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting, and evaluating patient progress, recommending adjustments and modifications.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers, contributing to patient care conferences.
  • Assure the continuation of therapeutic plans following discharge by designing home exercise programs, instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment, and recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensure the operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Develop physical therapy staff by providing information, developing, and conducting in-service training programs.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience working in an outpatient setting.
  • Experience in lymphedema and oncology - preferred.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Required - Must have an active Pennsylvania State license to practice physical therapy.
