Phlebotomist Job Description

Baystate Health, a leading healthcare provider in western Massachusetts, is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, MA.

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and capillary punctures in an inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have phlebotomy certification and experience working in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques
  • Accurately identify patients and label specimens
  • Provide age-related care and select appropriate sites for vascular access
  • Process and handle specimens, including calculating minimum requirements and prioritizing orders
  • Work independently and as part of a team to ensure efficient specimen collection and processing
Requirements
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
