Position Overview:

The Lead Cardiac Catheterization Specialist is responsible for executing a range of technical and supportive patient care functions to aid physicians in conducting intricate invasive cardiac catheterization operations and surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inserts fine catheters through a needle into the vascular system and the heart to facilitate x-rays, angiograms, and other imaging techniques to assess cardiac structure and functionality.
  • Ensures the electrocardiogram (EKG) apparatus is functioning optimally. Observes EKG outputs and alerts the physician to any irregularities. Positions patients appropriately and clarifies procedures.
  • Prepares patients for procedures by cleansing, shaving, and anesthetizing the insertion site.
  • Assists medical professionals during open-heart surgeries and with the placement of pacemakers or stents. Conducts quality assurance tasks.
  • Organizes and prepares medical supplies using sterile techniques.
  • Complies with institutional and departmental policies and procedures while safeguarding institutional resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent qualification.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in completing tasks accurately with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to analyze, organize, and prioritize tasks under pressure while adhering to deadlines.
  • Ability to manage and handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
