Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at Northwest Community Hospital. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the early detection and diagnosis of diseases, particularly cancer, by examining cellular samples for abnormalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform microscopic examinations of cellular specimens, including Pap smears, fine-needle aspirations, and other cytological samples, to detect abnormal cell changes.
  • Accurately identify and classify cellular abnormalities, documenting findings and preparing detailed reports for pathologists.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to discuss and confirm diagnoses, share findings, and provide recommendations for further testing or follow-up.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring that it is in optimal working condition while reporting any equipment malfunctions or issues.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of specimen processing, test results, and quality control measures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
  • 1 year of work experience in a cytology laboratory required.
  • Certified Cytologist (CT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) required.
  • Certified Technologist in Cytogenetics (CG) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC).
