Job Summary

We are seeking skilled Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners to join our team of Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Providers at Medical University of South Carolina Health. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services for patients in our Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to patients through comprehensive history and physical examinations, evaluations, and treatments based on diagnostic test results.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, such as administration of local and digital anesthesia, repair of lacerations, and placement of peripheral venous access.
  • Initiate referrals to other healthcare providers and consult with attending physicians or collaborating physicians.
  • Document and bill for direct care provided.
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and current licensure as an APRN.
  • 2 years of Emergency Room experience as an APP or graduation from an Emergency Room Fellowship.
  • Current certifications, such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in an Adult Emergency Department.
  • Preferred certifications, such as Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner (ENP) Certification.
Physical Requirements

The ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting, with continuous requirements to bend, kneel, climb stairs, and reach in all directions.
