Position Overview:
The Yard Mule and Forklift Operator is tasked with the operation of a forklift to efficiently move, position, relocate, stack, and inventory merchandise.

This role also encompasses the safe and effective management of the yard mule, ensuring that the cross-dock requirements are met regarding the positioning of trailers for loading and unloading operations.

When not engaged in trailer movement within the yard, the operator will be required to operate a forklift on the dock.

Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control:
Ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and undamaged. Report any discrepancies in quality.
Complete all necessary hostler documentation accurately and promptly during each shift.

Loading Operations:
Efficiently transfer products from staging or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.

Equipment Management:

Utilize a forklift, clamp truck, yard mule, or other powered equipment to load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials.

Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a clean, organized manner. Conduct daily inspections and perform minor maintenance on the forklift and other equipment. Operate all machinery safely and efficiently, adhering to established work methods.

Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure strict inventory control and security. Assist with physical inventory counts as needed.

Safety and Sanitation:
Keep a clean, organized work environment. Help maintain warehouse security. Conduct operations in a manner that prioritizes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards. Ensure thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard mule are performed during each shift.

Maintenance Duties:
Assist with or perform maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment as required.

Job Requirements:
A minimum of 1 year of recent experience operating a forklift and yard mule is required. Experience with stand-up forklifts equipped with suicide knobs is advantageous.
