Position Title: IT Computer Support Specialist
Work Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period; Monday - Friday (4x10 hr days - Alternating Mondays and Fridays Off) 6am-4:30pm
Weekend Duties: No scheduled weekends - On-call for after-hours or weekend issues as they arise.
Holiday Duties: Paid Time Off - 1 or 2 holidays scheduled On Call per year.
Position Summary:
The IT Computer Support Specialist is responsible for delivering technical support to users of computer systems. This role involves addressing inquiries and resolving technical issues for clients through various communication methods, including in-person, phone, or electronic communication. The specialist will assist with hardware and software usage, including printing, installation, word processing, email, and operating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the daily performance of computer systems.
- Respond to user inquiries regarding software or hardware operations to troubleshoot issues.
- Execute commands and observe system performance to ensure correct operations and identify errors.
- Prepare equipment for employee use, ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or relevant software.
- Install and conduct minor repairs on hardware, software, or peripheral devices, adhering to design or installation specifications.
- Document information in help tickets for future problem-solving reference.
- Consult technical manuals, collaborate with users, or perform computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve issues or provide technical support.
- Refer significant hardware or software issues or defective products to vendors or technicians for resolution.
- Create training materials and procedures, or instruct users on the proper use of hardware or software.
- Engage with staff, users, and management to determine requirements for new systems or modifications.
- Oversee Network closets for port availability and troubleshoot network connectivity challenges.
- Communicate with telecommunication vendors to address service-related issues.
- Support phone software and hardware, configure devices, and manage voicemail setups and password resets.
- Assume Help Desk responsibilities during staff absences.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- A minimum of 3 years of related work experience is preferred.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Expertise in computer systems is required, including proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
- Self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving abilities.
