Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Fitness Instructor to join our team at the City of Nampa. As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing group fitness classes for customers and City employees. This is a part-time position that requires flexibility and a willingness to work varied hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead group fitness classes as scheduled
- Maintain a safe environment for group fitness instruction, including providing information, demonstration, and assistance to customers regarding proper exercise techniques and inspecting equipment for damage
- Secure substitutes for scheduled classes when unable to cover
- Maintain accurate records of equipment issues and update the equipment log as necessary
- Promote special events for customers and community members, including implementing special events when necessary
- Accurately document class attendance numbers
- Provide needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of position
- Foster relationships with customers, coworkers, and others
- Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions; review publications and audiovisual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, certifications, and new developments in assigned work areas
Requirements:
- 1+ year of experience in Group Fitness instruction or any combination of knowledge and experience or willingness to become trained
- Nationally recognized Group Fitness or Aquatic Fitness Certification (or ability to complete within 6 months of hiring)
- CPR/AED certified
- Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks and the ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology
