Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Optometrist Medical Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente's Haymarket Crossroads Medical Center. As an Optometrist Medical Specialist, you will be responsible for examining patients with a wide range of visual problems, diagnosing visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribing treatment accordingly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine patients using advanced optometry instruments and techniques
• Diagnose visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribe treatment
• Prescribe and fit contact lenses
• Determine visual requirements of partially sighted patients
• Prescribe low-vision aids such as telescopic and microscopic lenses, magnifiers, and other optical devices
• Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology
• Participate in departmental and educational meetings, including peer review activities
• Consult regularly with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology on patient care issues

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry
• Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire date
• Optometrist License (Maryland) OR Optometrist License (Virginia) OR Optometrist License (District of Columbia)
• Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association
• National Provider Identifier required at hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment
• Accredited residency in Optometry preferred
