Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse IV - Acute Care to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of safe and effective nursing services.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings consistent with educational preparation.
- Collect, analyze, and record relevant patient health data accurately, with no more than 3-5 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback.
- Analyze assessment data to identify patient problems, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation.
- Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation.
- Develop a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation.
- Implement and record interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem, with no more than 3-5 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation.
- Evaluate the patient's progress toward attainment of identified goals, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation.
- Adhere to approved, research-based practice standards, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by direct supervisory observation and random supervisory chart review.
- Direct and supervise patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel 100% of the time according to department guidelines, as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
- Demonstrate consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care, as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback.
- Act effectively as charge nurse, group leader, or preceptor when assigned, as determined by co-worker or preceptee feedback and direct managerial observation.
- Write a progress note that demonstrates an understanding of the patient's status and progress toward achievement of goals (80-90%).
- Effectively precept new staff members or students as determined by preceptee/student feedback and direct managerial observation.
- Ability to function in charge nurse or leadership capacity as determined by practice arena.
- Advocate for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Deliver care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity, 100% of the time, as measured by no significant, substantiated patient or peer complaints received by the manager/supervisor.
- Assure that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures, 100% of the time, as measured by random supervisory chart review.
- Act on behalf of patients in an ethical manner 100% of the time, as measured by co-worker and patient feedback and managerial observation.
- Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses.
- Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
- Provide proof of current licensure validation to supervisor. (To achieve excellence, one must do this in a proactive, timely manner prior to due date).
- Complete required unit credentialing according to departmental policy by providing documented evidence of completion to supervisor.
- Provide to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation. (To achieve excellence, one must take personal responsibility for this task and complete by the due date).
- Participate in level-appropriate number of hours of educational activity, according to pathway, related to job function annually and provide documented evidence of attendance or activity to supervisor.
- Demonstrate clinical problem-solving ability through written exemplar, patient/family feedback, co-worker report, or direct managerial observation.
- Participate in quality improvement processes for the department and institution as assigned and as measured by supervisory observation.
- Provide two required annual in-services for coworkers and provide documented evidence of activity to manager.
- Demonstrate operational problem-solving ability through written exemplar, coworker report, or direct managerial observation.
- Coordinate performance improvement initiative demonstrating good organizational skills and follow-through as determined by direct managerial observation.
- Develop and evaluate systems for orienting new staff and students as demonstrated by direct managerial observation.
- Contribute to the body of nursing knowledge through use of research and participation in professional practice committees and organizations as measured by portfolio review and managerial observation.
- Participate in nursing research.
- Commit to an attitude of inquiry, research-based practice, and the advancement of nursing science as observed by managerial observation.
- Help identify clinical problems requiring investigation as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
- Assist in the collection of data within a structured format as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
- Partner with senior nurses to use research findings in clinical practice as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.

We are seeking a highly qualified Registered Nurse IV - Acute Care with a strong educational background. The ideal candidate will have a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, with experience may be substituted for degree, preferred. A Master's Degree in Nursing is also preferred.
All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.
ExperienceWe are seeking a highly experienced Registered Nurse IV - Acute Care with a strong background in nursing. The ideal candidate will have current NYS license as a RN required for all education levels, required. BLS will be required within 6 months. Other certifications may be needed based on department requirements, required.

Physical RequirementsThe Registered Nurse IV - Acute Care will be required to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching. Frequent fit testing. Constant typing, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking.
HazardsThe Registered Nurse IV - Acute Care will be exposed to occasional radiation/radiant energy and frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.
Working ConditionsThe Registered Nurse IV - Acute Care will work in a fast-paced environment with occasional noise, vibration, wet and/or humid conditions and frequent odors.
TravelThe Registered Nurse IV - Acute Care may be required to travel occasionally, but not on a regular basis.
