We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled GIS Coordinator to join our Engineering Department at the City of Wentzville. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and be able to provide expert support, data collection, and cartographic services.
Key Responsibilities:- GIS Support: Coordinate with the Planning Division GIS Coordinator to maintain the GIS IT infrastructure and ensure its availability to Engineering and Public Works staff.
- Data Management: Manage and update base map layers and integrate layers from internal and external agencies in the city GIS.
- Map Creation: Create and maintain interactive maps for the Engineering Department, as well as various other maps as requested.
- Data Research: Research and gather data related to utilities and infrastructure for continued map maintenance.

This is a full-time position that requires a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field. An Associate degree along with related professional experience may be considered. Additional job experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. GISP certification is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with ArcGIS software and SQL server databases, knowledge of GPS activities and cartography, and an understanding of the GIS needs of local government. They will also have the ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations, provide exceptional service to internal and external customers, and communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
