Neurophysiology Specialist

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Neurophysiology Technologist to join our team. As a Neurophysiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing neurodiagnostic procedures, training under direct technical supervision, and maintaining patient safety through effective communication with other patient care support staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform neurodiagnostic procedures according to facility policy and procedures.
- Train under direct technical supervision for procedures where competence has not been achieved.
- Maintain patient safety through effective communication with other patient care support staff.
- Continuously learn and apply basic and intermediate EEG waveform recognition, relevant medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, current HIPAA practices, contraindications for activation procedures, instrumentation, and preparation for use.
- Perform patient assessment as related to care, including electrode fixation product allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff to convey the purpose of diagnostic testing and answer questions regarding the procedure.
- Identify and perform basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
- Understand and follow concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety within the Neurophysiology unit.
- Contact supervisory staff as appropriate for problems within the Neurophysiology unit, stock supplies, and prepare patient rooms for neurodiagnostic procedures.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) within 1 year - American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists, Inc. (ABRET)
