Job Summary:

Michaels Stores is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Retail Store Team Member to join our team. As a Retail Store Team Member, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of overall look and feel of the store, including maintaining store cleanliness and recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises. You will also be responsible for delivering friendly customer service, helping customers shop our store and find what they're looking for.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collects and disposes of trash following approved procedures.
  • Dusts and damp mops floors following approved procedures.
  • Moves equipment and products for proper cleaning and places products back in correct placement.
  • Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment.
  • Deep cleans key areas of the store, including but not limited to bathrooms, breakrooms, entry ways and other high traffic areas to maintain a clean, safe environment for customers and staff.
  • Must keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly; notifies supervisor of supply needs in advance for replenishment.
  • Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.
  • Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Performs tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines.
  • Maintains positive and respectful interactions with both team members and customers, even in difficult situations, in keeping with the organization's vision and values.
  • Projects a positive image and serves as a role model for other Team Members.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provides a fast and friendly check out experience; executes cash handling to standards.
  • Engages customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and completes enrollments.
  • Assists with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS).
  • Participates in the truck un-load, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
  • Supports shrink and safety programs.
  • Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; executes Company policies and standards.
Requirements:
  • Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.
Work Environment:
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
  • Public retail store setting taking care of our customers; all public areas are climate controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled; some outdoor work if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks.
  • Use of standard commercial cleaners and chemicals from cleaning supplies.
