Job Summary

The successful Corrosion Control Mechanic performs critical tasks to ensure the integrity and longevity of aircraft. This role involves scheduled and unscheduled corrosion inspections, control, and prevention to maintain the aircraft's airworthiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform aircraft scheduled and unscheduled corrosion inspections and control to include washing, cleaning, corrosion detection, corrosion removal, metal treatment, and touch-up painting.
  • Assist in the preparation of the aircraft and/or components for complete repaint, including the application of labels and stencils.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to personnel in the same or lesser grade classifications in the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all aircraft parts/components removed from an aircraft are properly documented by a valid Work Order, ensuring repairable, serviceable, or unserviceable parts are properly tagged and turned in and/or disposed of.
  • Comply with all applicable programs, including Safety, Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Communications, Corrosion Control, and Tool Control.
  • Maintain Emergency Reclamation locker and perform duties of emergency reclamation member as directed by program technical manuals.
  • Operate portable firefighting equipment.
  • Participate in the proper maintenance and cleanliness of spaces and facilities.
  • Work harmoniously with other employees promoting teamwork and cooperation.
Requirements
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain any company/government required qualification, certification, licensing, or security clearance.
  • Must have two years general experience in aircraft corrosion control.
  • Must be knowledgeable of aircraft, aircraft ground servicing equipment, including vehicles, tugs, tractors, servicing carts, test equipment, hand tools, power tools.
  • Must provide and maintain own hand tools as identified in Amentum's minimum tool list.
  • Must be Respirator Qualified, become qualified in the use of support equipment as required. Become certified to perform hydraulic sampling.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and follow Department of Defense (DoD), Navy and OSHA safety standards. Possess knowledge of materials and safety instructions.
  • Must be familiar with normal operational safety requirements, working on and around aircraft and ground support equipment.
  • Must have working knowledge of corrosion theory, detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Must have a working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, basic tools, and special tools.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift or schedule.
