Job Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse at McLaren Health Care, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise and perform direct and indirect resident care, following individual resident care plans and physician orders.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the total nursing care of residents, as directed by the Medical Director, attending physician, Director of Nursing, and designated alternates.
  • Make daily resident visits, observe, and evaluate physical, emotional, and social needs, completing appropriate reports and documentation.
  • Notify clinical coordinators and physicians of resident status via written and verbal communication.
  • Participate in the resident care review process and assist in establishing resident goals, problem resolutions, approaches, and revisions as needed.
  • Prepare assessments, resident care plans, and document in the medical record according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Responsible for charting in residents' medical charts, following facility policy and procedure and nursing standards of practice.
  • Execute doctor's orders as written, bringing concerns about validity or implementation to the attention of supervisors immediately.
  • Properly and accurately administer medications and record medications given in the Medical Administration Record (MAR).
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities for direct care staff per resident's needs, ensuring direct care staff completes daily tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain inventory of nursing supplies, verifying inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing supply orders, verifying receipt of supplies, and using equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and treatments as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited university.
  • Previous geriatric experience preferred.
  • Current RN/LPN licensure from the State of Michigan.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy, including use of computer programs and applications.
  • CPR training and current BLS certification.
