Position Overview
The Financial Controller is responsible for delivering precise and timely monthly financial statements and additional fiscal data for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to share with both internal and external stakeholders. This role encompasses critical financial management responsibilities, including corporate accounting, compliance reporting, and collaborating on budget and forecast preparation with the CFO. The Controller will also formulate and uphold internal control policies and procedures. As a leader within the finance team, the Controller supervises the financial oversight of business operations, managing daily activities and may engage with various departments on special projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Works closely with the CFO to manage finance and accounting functions.
- Supervises the development of budgets, financial forecasts, performance dashboards, and variance analyses.
- Oversees accounting functions, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger management, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Assists in the month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Leads and coordinates the annual external audit process.
- Ensures quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
- Produces monthly management accounts and reports, adhering strictly to company policies and timelines.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of key business drivers to deliver clear and concise analyses of ongoing financial performance.
- Prepares and monitors performance against financial forecasts and budgets.
- Manages treasury functions to ensure effective working capital management.
- Provides analysis and strategic insights to executive and senior management proactively and upon request.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in accounting and finance.
- Advanced degree in Accounting; CPA certification is required.
- Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
- Familiarity with accounting software and platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
