Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Hernando County, FL. As a key member of our Utilities Department, you will be responsible for performing semi-skilled labor in a field environment, maintaining grounds, buildings, fences, and structures at all water and wastewater facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including tractors, forklifts, and boom truck cranes, to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment and tools according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Utilize heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools to maintain grounds and make repairs to buildings, facilities, and utilities structures.
  • Assist in the renovation, repairs, and modifications of structures, buildings, and facilities as directed.
  • Operate heavy equipment for cleaning and resurfacing percolation ponds at wastewater facilities as required by the Department of Environmental Protection and facility operating permit.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Two (2) years of experience in semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance or a combination of education and field experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Forklift and aerial platform certification.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.
  • NIMS certification within 90 days.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to hazardous conditions, dust, fumes, and heat. You will also work near powerlines, water and sewer lines, and other utilities.
