Senior Associate General Counsel for Risk Mitigation

We are seeking a seasoned expert to join our team as a Vice President, Senior Associate General Counsel, Risk Management. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's risk management strategy and overseeing the entire risk management portfolio.
About This RoleJob Title: Director of Professional Liability Risk Management
Location: Nashville, TN
Estimated Salary: $175,000 - $220,000 per year
The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in litigation and risk management, preferably in both a law firm and in-house environment. A graduate of an ABA-accredited law school, licensed to practice law and admitted to the bar in at least one state or the District of Columbia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a skilled team of claims handlers, overseeing litigation and potential compensable events, while implementing innovative strategies to minimize the Company's professional liability exposure and expenditures.
- Navigate a diverse professional liability claims portfolio, including "pro se" claims based on alleged violations of the 8th Amendment, 42 U.S.C. 1983, and similar causes of action, as well as claims represented by counsel arising from the healthcare services provided to patients in correctional facilities.
- Collaborate with numerous external law firms across the geographic service platform in the defense of professional liability claims, ensuring a coordinated and effective legal response.
- Oversee the Clinical Risk Management department, coordinating with a specialized correctional health clinical claims director nurse and collaborating with operational, clinical, and compliance leaders to establish and manage a comprehensive risk management model aligned with the Company's commitment to "Always Do The Right Thing."
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15+ years of legal experience in litigation and risk management, preferably in both a law firm and in-house environment.
- Graduate of ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law and admitted to the bar in at least one state or the District of Columbia.
- Eligible for admission as an In-House Counsel in the state of Tennessee.
