Reports To: Field/Operations Supervisor
Department: Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The mission and purpose of this position is to deliver high-quality service and patient care in a professional and cost-effective manner. The Special Events EMT will provide advanced medical care, assess each call situation, and utilize medical equipment and procedures as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action and appropriate protocol.
- Utilize medical equipment and procedures, including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen, and suction devices, to provide advanced medical care.
- Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
- Lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care.
- Act as team leader and take responsibility for scene and unit management as needed.
- Continuously maintain all required certifications.
- Document activities with regard to patient care and billing to ensure accurate information is available.
- Work collaboratively with allied health and public safety personnel.
- Report incidents involving negative customer and/or patient interactions to the on-duty supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
The Special Events EMT must be able to pass a Physical Agility Test and have good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition. They must also be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education/Licensing/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Some advanced education preferred.
- California Drivers License
- State of California EMT License
- CPR Card (American Heart Association ONLY, Health Care Provider)
- ICS courses (IS-100B, IS-200B, IS-700A, IS-800B)
