Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Direct Patient Care
    • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians or RNs
    • Monitor and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates
    • Provide wound care, including cleaning, dressing, and managing wounds, incisions, and injuries
  • Conduct Comprehensive Patient Assessments
    • Perform physical exams and medical histories to craft personalized care plans
    • Review medication lists and ensure accurate dosing and adherence to established protocols
  • Collaborate with the Healthcare Team
    • Work closely with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care
    • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to address their needs and concerns
  • Maintain Accurate Patient Records
    • Document changes in patients' conditions, administered treatments, and medication management
    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Administer intravenous (IV) medications and fluids, ensuring proper insertion and functioning of IV lines
    • Provide care for patients with urinary catheters, including insertion, routine maintenance, and diligent monitoring for complications
    • Collect patient samples, such as blood, urine, and sputum, for subsequent laboratory testing and analysis
    • Address patient comfort and safety requirements, including positioning, mobility assistance, and pain management
    • Respond to medical emergencies and deliver basic life support as necessary
    • Adhere to infection control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies
    • Foster health and wellness by promoting preventive care measures, such as vaccinations and screenings
    • Advocate for patients' rights and needs within the healthcare system
    • Stay current on nursing best practices, regulations, and advancements through ongoing education and training
    Requirements
    • Valid and active Licensed Practical Nurse State license
    • BLS certification
